New site of Shougang Group steel factory determined
font size

Shougang Group's new site is in Cao Feidian in Hebei province and the port will be finished by the end of October. The 4.24 square kilometer wharf is land reclaimed from the sea. The entire factory can be seen clearly from the port.

Water and environment evaluation reports on the site have been approved by the government, and the project is generally coming along well.

In the first phase of the project, 4.85 million tons of steel will be produced each year and in the second phase, this will increase to 9.70 million tons.

Cao Feidian is the only harbor along the Bohai coast capable of servicing a 300 thousand ton ship without digging a sea-route and harbor basin.

The Cao Feidian steel factory is close to the port and it is convenient for the export of products. In addition to steel, other industries like modern logistics and petrifaction will be developed there.

Sources say the new site has been expanded 1.2 miles to the beach, and connected with the port.
