Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf Tuesday in Rawalpindi met with the visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by Liu Yunshan, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and also of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat.

Musharraf and Liu held cordial and friendly talks on bilateral relations and issues of common interest in the Pakistani army headquarters in Rawalpindi, the twin city some 30 kilometers south of the country's capital, Islamabad.

Liu conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's cordial greetings and compliments to Musharaff.

Liu said that China and Pakistan are friendly neighbors linked with mountains and seas and the two have a long history of friendly and cooperative relationship. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 55 years ago, he said, China and Pakistan have developed an all-dimension cooperation and an all-weather friendship, setting an example of friendly neighborhood between countries of different social systems.

Liu said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, good friends and good partners. To strengthen the longlasting and stable Sino-Pak strategic cooperative partnership is in the common interest of the two countries and is in favor of the promotion of the regional peace and stability, he said, adding that together with Pakistan, China wishes to do its best for the constant development of the strategic partnership to make it beneficial to the two peoples.

Musharraf recalled the pleasant memories during his visit to China last Feb. and his presence at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization last June.

Musharraf also asked Liu to convey his heartfelt regards to Chinese President Hu. He expressed hope that the relationship between Pakistan and China will be developing in the direction of all dimensions and wide sectors.

Liu, also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, arrived with his delegation in Islamabad on Aug. 28 to begin a friendly visit to Pakistan at the invitation of the Pakistan Muslim League.

On Tuesday afternoon, Liu met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad.
