Google and eBay announced a multi-year cooperation agreement on August 28th, which involves text and click-to-call advertising.
Whilst Google will become the exclusive provider of text advertising, eBay and Google also plan to make full use of Skype and Google Talk on a global scale, and integrate them on both shopping and search platform, and issue click-to-call advertising.
The two companies say that the financial terms of some parts of the cooperation agreement will involve the distribution of income but do not disclose further details.
The two companies plan to begin to test the role of text and click-to-call advertising early next year, which is expected to last several months. Specific content and implementation timetable will depend on preliminary test results, which will be different in different markets and depend on the demand of local market and progress of cooperation amongst both companies.
EBay says that this agreement is not going to have any substantive effect on its 2006 and 2007 financial reports.
