First big order for locally made passenger jets

Hainan Airlines has ordered fifty ERJ 145 passenger jets from Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd, in which both China and Brazil have invested. It is their first big order, said Embraer yesterday.

Embraer said that Hainan Airlines has also ordered 50 EMB planes. These 100 are worth US$2.7 billion. Hainan Airlines operates the biggest branch of jets in China, said the Chairman of Hainan Airlines.

ERJ 145 is the first jet program China has been involved in.
