Protesters to bombard Chen Shui-bian with slogans, music
font size

The organizer of a sit-down protest that aims to force Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian to resign announced Friday that demonstrators would bombard his headquarters with slogans and classical music, according to Taiwan-based media.

Thirty-two bass sound-boxes will be placed around the protesters, but the music would only be broadcast during weekends, so as to minimize the negative impact on local people, said the organizer.

The headquarters of the anti-Chen campaign was moved to the front of Chen's office at 4:00 p.m., and people were asked to register at the organizer's website to book a place.

The protest, which is scheduled to begin on September 9, will have a rehearsal on Friday evening.

On August 12, Shih Ming-teh, former chairman of Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party, launched the mass campaign to force Chen, whose family has been implicated in a major corruption case, to step down.

Service people in Taiwan have been ordered not to participate in the campaign.
