The Nepali government has said that it was working to control any possible outbreak of epidemic in the aftermath of the floods and landslides in west Nepal, state- run The Rising Nepal Daily reported here on Saturday.
"We have already mobilized 'Rapid Response Medical Team' in the affected areas and sent necessary supplies of medicines to the regional stores of the affected districts," The English language daily reported, quoting a senior health ministry official of Nepal.
Mahendra Bahadur Bista, director at the Department of Health Services (DHS), said that the DHS was in the process of supplying additional medicines for about 1,000 people in the natural calamities affected areas including Achhan, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, and Kanchanpur districts.
The floods and landslides killed more than 40 people and displaced thousands of people in western Nepal around the area of some 400-500 km away from the capital Kathmandu.
The Nepali government also organized a meeting with donor agencies on Friday with the aim of making further plans for controlling outbreaks of epidemics.
