China's top legislator Wu Bangguo predicted Friday in Sao Paulo that with the deepening of Sino-Brazilian strategic partnership, China and Brazil's Sao Paulo state will enjoy more fruitful economic cooperation in high-tech industry and other fields.
During a meeting with Sao Paulo Governor Claudio Lembo, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, praised Sao Paulo state's "irreplaceable" role in promoting Sino-Brazilian ties.
Sao Paulo is the largest financial and economic center in South America. Its cooperation with China covers the fields of energy, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure construction, and science and technology. The state also has the largest population of Chinese in Brazil.
Wu expressed his hope that the government of Sao Paulo state will continue to take positive efforts to secure the legitimate rights of Chinese in the state.
Lembo said the Sao Paulo state and Brazilian enterprises are keen in developing relations with China.
He said his state welcomes more investment from China and hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in science, technology, culture and education.
Wu arrived in Sao Paulo Thursday night from Brasilia, where he started an official goodwill visit to Brazil on Tuesday.
