font size

Seven members of a family have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in northwest India's Himachal Pradesh for killing a man, Indo-Asian New Service reported Sunday.

The court in Chamba district of the state on Saturday judged seven people at Riyana village, including three women, guilty of brutally killing a man named Prem Singh over a land dispute.

The seven accused, belonging to the same family, reportedly ganged up and attacked Singh with sticks, sickles and a shovel in March 2004, the report said.

The court also fined the family a penalty of 10,000 rupees (232 U.S. dollars) each.
