Israeli tanks roll into Gaza after mortars attack
font size

Several Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles Sunday morning rolled into eastern Jabalia refugee camp amid intensive shooting, security sources said.

The sources said that Israeli tanks and armored vehicles stationed around a graveyard east of Jabalia town in the Gaza Strip, and the tanks fire from time to time shells at empty area.

No injuries have been reported.

Eyewitnesses said the Israeli army incursion into the area came shortly after Palestinian militants fired several mortar shells and missiles at Israel. The Israeli army did not report on injuries.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas last week urged militant groups to stop launching homemade rockets at Israel that caused destruction, suffering and death.

Last week, 20 Palestinians were killed and 35 wounded in an Israeli incursion into eastern Gaza, while Israel said the operation aimed at preventing launching rockets from Gaza at Israel and to search for underground tunnels.
