Chinese NPC vice chairman meets British guests

Li Tieying, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, met here with a delegation from Britain's Conservative Party led by the party leader William Hague, who is also the country's Shadow Foreign Secretary.

Li recognized the smooth development of China-UK relations in recent years, highlighting the positive results achieved from the cooperation in the political, economic and trade, scientific and technological, cultural, educational and environmental fields.

As one of the major British political parties, Conservative party plays a very important role to which the CPC attaches great importance, Li said, expressing the hope that the two sides could boost dialogue and exchange,further increase mutual understanding and step up the ties between the two parties and two countries.

Li also briefed the guests with China's latest development of political, economic and social life.
