China says to work with Japan for friendly relationsA top Chinese diplomat said Friday in Beijing that China will make joint efforts with Japan to properly handle existing problems and bring China-Japan friendly relationship to a new height. State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan told visiting president of the Japanese news agency Jiji Wakabayashi Seizo during a meeting that China always takes a strategic, long-term approach to its relations with Japan, and will stick to its friendly policy towards Japan. Chinese President Hu Jintao said that China and Japan should commit to the principle of peaceful coexistence, long-term friendship, mutually-beneficial cooperation and common development, Tang noted. "We will adhere to the principle and make joint efforts with Japan in pushing ahead bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields and properly handling the existing problems and obstacles," Tang said. Tang highlighted that China's development is one of peace, openness and cooperation, and will help promote common development and prosperity around the world.
