Oil prices fall below 67 dollars
font size

World crude oil prices fell below 67 dollars Friday, as concerns on supply eased.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in October, fell 1.07 dollars at 66.25 dollars per barrel, the lowest level since April 5 and being more than 10 dollars lower that last month.

In London, Brent North Sea crude for October delivery settled down 1.20 dollars at 65.33 dollars per barrel.

The Energy Department said Thursday that U.S. gasoline supplies rose by 700,000 barrels last week to 206.9 million, which was 6.6 percent above year-ago levels. Analysts had been expecting a drop of 900,000 barrels for gasoline stocks.

U.S. refineries operated at 93.6 percent of capacity last week, up from 92.9 percent in the prior week.

Talks on Iran's nuclear program, scheduled for Wednesday between Iran and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had been postponed to Saturday, which would be a final attempt to see if there was common ground to start negotiations between Iran and the six nations of Britain, France, Russia, China, the United States and Germany.
