Malaysia stock market closes firmer

The key indices of Malaysia stock market closed firmer Friday on a technical rebound.

At the closing, the 100-quality stock Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 0.85 of a point to 956.70. It opened 0.48 point higher at 956.33.

The Second Board Index was up 0.89 of a point to 82.85, the Industrial Index was 11.26 points higher at 2,008.37 and the Finance Index gained 14.42 points to 7,651.22.

Losers led gainers 332 to 331 while 375 counters traded unchanged.

Turnover rose to 354.01 million shares worth 666.3 million ringgit (180.08 million U.S. dollars) from 350.94 million shares worth 659.75 million ringgit (178.31 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.
