Successful trade talks help preserve international order: BrazilBrazil Foreign Minister Celso Amorim said here Saturday that successful trade negotiations would help preserve international order. Amorim said it would also have implications in the fight against terrorism, the proliferation of nuclear contraband and organized crimes. Speaking at the end of a day's meeting among the ministers of the Group of 20, the Brazilian foreign minister said: "It's not just trade that's at stake, but the whole world order." Amorim said another meeting of the Group of 20 would take place in mid-October or early November. The Group of 20 developing nations met here with officials from industrialized countries to find ways to restart World Trade Organization talks aimed at slashing trade barriers in the world. The Doha Round, named after the Qatari capital where they were started in 2001, stalled in July over the issue of rich countries' subsidies for agriculture. Saturday's meeting represents the first attempt to restart the talks. Source: Xinhua |
