Montenegro holds first general elections after independence

The Balkan republic of Montenegro on Sunday is holding its first general elections since restoring independence, with some 480,000 voters expected to cast ballots to elect an 81-seat parliament.

A total of 1,111 polling stations opened at 8 a.m. (0600GMT) local time and will be closed at 9 p.m. (1900GMT).
