Japan invents a wine-tasting robot
font size

Researchers from the NEC System Technologies and Mie University recently developed a wine-tasting robot. By taking only a "sip", it can distinguish the quality and brand of a wine.

According to the Japanese media, once the robot has tasted the wine, it will name loudly in its childish voice, the brand of the wine as well as making comments on it.

Researchers from the NEC have found the robot to be of a certain level of intelligence. Through pre-set programs, it can tell whether its master will appreciate that particular type of wine and also recommend new kinds of wine.

However, the robot can describe accurately by giving a score to the type of wine. It is also more difficult for the robot to wine-taste if the wine has been opened and exposed to air.
