The 14th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit decided in Havana on Saturday that the next NAM summit will be held in Egypt in 2009.
The decision was made in the final working day of the NAM's Meeting of Heads of State or Government in Havana.
On behalf of all the NAM members, Cuban Defense Minister Raul Castro congratulated the Egyptian delegation and urged all the NAM nations to attend the conference in Egypt.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit thanked the member countries for placing their trust in his country as the host of the next summit.
He said his government would take all necessary means to guarantee the success of the meeting, adding that Egypt was determined to fight any attempt to divide the NAM countries.
The NAM, a 118-member organization, is mostly made up of developing countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
