Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra Sunday instructed the army chief and police chief to go to Hat Yai immediately to get first-hand information about the bomb attacks there.

PM's Office Minister Suranand Vejjajiva said Thaksin, who is attending a meeting of the United Nations (U.N.) in New York, wanted the Army Commander-in-Chief Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratglin and Police Commissioner-General Gen. Kit Watana to be in Hat Yai to take charge of investigations to try to bring attackers to justice as soon as possible.

Thaksin also instructed the Public Health Ministry to provide full care for those injured by the bomb attacks.

At least four people were killed and 78 others were injured in six bomb attacks Saturday night in Hat Yai City, the capital of Thai southern province of Songkhla. The six bombs went off one after anther at around 9:30 p.m. (1400 GMT). A Canadian was among the victims and many Malaysians, Singaporeans were also injured.
