Fourteen Taiwanese tourists who have been receiving medical treatment in northeast China's Jilin Province after a bus crash are going home by chartered plane on Tuesday, said authorities.
According to He Jingbin, vice director of the Beijing International SOS Center, the chartered plane will leave Taipei and arrive in Yanji in Jilin about 5 a.m. Tuesday to pick up the tourists and their 20 relatives.
Two Taiwanese female tourists and a bus driver from the Chinese mainland were killed in the accident when their bus with 21 onboard crashed into a rail on the highway and fell into a river 26 meters below. The other 18 passengers were all injured.
Three of the injured, 69-year-old Yen Wenhsiong, 66-year-old Tseng Mingmei and 60-year-old Yang Suiying were transferred to Beijing for treatment due to their critical condition.
After it was confirmed that the fourth injured person, 66-year-old Lee Chunchang, was in a "good enough condition to take a flight", he left for Taiwan on Saturday with his wife's remains. The remains of the other dead tourists were sent back to Taiwan on Friday.
