font size

A Chinese delegation of Tibetologists and living Buddhas wrapped up their five-day visit to Norway on Tuesday.

During the visit, the four-member delegation held separate talks with officials of Norway's Buddhist alliance, the ministry of cultural and religious affairs, the foreign ministry and the country's Tibetologists.

At the talks, Tsering Gyslpo, who headed the delegation, elaborated on the tremendous progress Tibet had made in social, economic and cultural fields in the past four decades.

He also highlighted the unremitting efforts made by the Tibetan Autonomous Region in preserving and promoting the Tibetan traditions and culture, and took questions about Tibet's social and economic development, environmental protection, the construction of the Qinhai-Tibet railway and other Tibet-related matters.

During his visit to a temple in Norway, Living Buddha Jia Deng Luorongxiangba, head of the management of a temple in Sichuan, a province in southwest China, delivered a speech on the rights and freedoms that Tibetan Buddhists enjoy under China's legislation.

Before arriving in Norway on Friday, the Chinese delegation paid a six-day visit to Belgium and the European Union.
