China's textile exports decrease in quantity, increase in price
font size

China's textile export industry has grown steadily this year. The quantity of textile exports has declined while the price has increased, an advantageous trend, said Cao Xinyu, vice chairman of China's Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Textiles.

The revenue from China's import and export textile trade is US$86.48 billion, a 21.4 percent increase between January and July this year. The value of textile exports is now $76.17 billion, an increase of 23.9 percent, and the cost of textile imports is $10.31 billion, an increase of 5.7 percent. This favorable balance has reached $65.86 billion, rising 27.3 percent. Cao Xinyu presented Customs' statistical data at a meeting of textile enterprises on professional antidumping measures in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, in China's east.

Cao also said that the unit price of China's clothing exports in the first seven months of the year increased by 6.5 percent overall. The average unit price of exported clothing to the United States and European Union has risen by 26.7 percent and 23.6 percent. Textile exports on which the USA and the EU have set limits have decreased in quantity and increased in price.

China's textile clothing industry should aim to build a reputation on moderate prices, reliable quality and knight service, as well as realize goals that stabilize the low-end of textile exports, expanding exports of middle range textiles and increasing the quality of high-end textile exports.
