Latvian Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis said on Tuesday in Riga that his country hoped to further develop economic and trade relations with China.
Kalvitis made the remarks while meeting with a Chinese delegation, headed by Wan Jifei, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
The prime minister said the year of 2006 was a very important milestone for Latvia-China cooperation, because this year was the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He also hoped businessmen from both countries could further strengthen ties and help develop economic and trade relations.
Wan said the economies of the two countries were complementary to one another in nature, therefore, there was a great potential for the development of bilateral trade.
He added that the enterprises of the two nations would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future.
