Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia, realized 4.05 billion U.S. dollars in foreign trade with its northern neighbor in the first eight months of this year, representing a growth of 14.4 percent year-on-year.
According to local customs sources, the volume made up 49.8 percent of the province's total external trade, or 19 percent of China's total trade value with Russia.
Heilongjiang's trade with Russia in the eight-month period included 2.69 billion U.S. dollars in export value, up 11.4 percent year-on-year, and 1.36 billion U.S. dollars in import value, up 20.9 percent.
Border trade dominated the bilateral trade, the sources noted.
Between January and August, border trade went up 24.67 percent over the year-earlier level to 2.86 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 70.65 percent of Heilongjiang's total foreign trade with Russia, the sources said.
