The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has established its first fast-response team specifically to deal with public health emergencies.

The new team, which is based in Beijing, is attached to the Army's disease control center.

It will be responsible for tackling, coordinating, analyzing and preventing public health emergencies, and providing medical services during important events attended by state and military leaders.
