At its foreign affairs conference Friday, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) called for the development of military ties with other countries in a comprehensive manner and efforts to ensure a sound international environment.
At the meeting, the participants studied the results of the recent Central Working Conference on Foreign Affairs and reviewed the Chinese Army's recent international peace-keeping and rescue work.
State Councilor and Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan addressed the meeting, which was presided over by Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the PLA and a member of the Central Military Commission.
The Army's work is a key part of the country's diplomatic work, and needs to be further developed, said Cao, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.
