Chinese State Councilor Zhou Yongkang met Friday with Ambrose Lee Siu-Kwong, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and other delegates from Hong Kong's police forces.

Zhou, also China's Minister of Public Security, said that the principles of "One Country, Two Systems", "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong", and a high degree of autonomy have been put into practice successfully since Hong Kong returned to China.

And HKSAR has sustained its economic growth, social development and sound public order, Zhou added.

Zhou spokes highly of the contributions made by Hong Kong's police forces in maintaining long term prosperity, stability and development in the region.

Zhou expressed hope that police forces on the mainland and Hong Kong can enhance exchanges so as to improve efficiency in future cooperation.
