Fiji's ruling party reiterates one-China stance
font size

The President of Fiji's ruling party on Friday in Beijing vowed that his party would maintain its one-China stance.

"The United Fiji Party, the country's ruling party, will as always adhere to the one-China policy," the party's president Ratu Loki said.

Sheng Huaren, vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, on Friday met with Loki in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Sheng said that China had appreciated the one-China stance of the United Fiji Party and the Fijian government over the years.

The Communist Party of China has always valued ties with the United Fiji Party, Sheng said.

He hoped the two parties and the two legislatures would step up dialogue and exchanges.
