Indonesia to increase fuel import during fasting month

Indonesia's state-run oil firm Pertamina said Friday it plans to raise fuel import by 13 percent, without citing figure, to anticipate growing demands during the Muslim fasting month that starts Sunday.

Pertamina's Deputy Marketing Director Hanung Budya said the consumption of fuel products -- gasoline, diesel fuel and kerosene -- is predicted to increase by 9 percent to 189,733 kiloliters per day during the fasting month.

"Diesel fuel and gasoline will top the demand, with estimated consumption of 82,605 kiloliters and 52,505 kiloliters, respectively," he said.

Pertamina last month imported 2.6 million barrels of gasoline.
