Singapore's CPI up 0.7 percent in AugustSingapore's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.7 percent in August over the corresponding month of last year, according to the figures released by theSingapore Department of Statistics (SDS) Monday. The price index for clothing and footwear was up 2.0 percent in August year-on-year and that for housing up 2.1 percent. The CPI for food grew 1.7 percent in the first eighth month of this year and that for education and stationery increased 1.5 percent. The CPI for health care grew 0.8 percent in August. The recreation price index dropped by 0.2 percent year-on-year in August, while the CPI for transport and communication continued to contract by 1.8 percent in the same month.
