Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi has called on Portuguese-speaking countries to invest in China's central areas.

Wu made the remarks during her meeting with a delegation from Portuguese-speaking countries, who are attending the First Central China Investment and Trade Expo that opened here Monday evening.

Noting the central regions have huge markets and great potential for development, she called on Portuguese-speaking countries to seek trade and economic cooperation with local enterprises.

Wu also expressed her congratulations on the success of the second Ministerial Conference of the Forum on Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking countries held in Macao on Sept. 24.

"The forum has pushed forward the cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries in trade and investment," the vice premier said.

The delegation are composed of ministers of seven Portuguese-speaking countries including Angola, Brazil, East Timor, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Portugal.

The ministers expressed their gratitude to China over its selfless assistance and pledged to strengthen friendly cooperative ties with China.
