font size

The fifth conference of leaders of overseas councils for the promotion of China's reunification gathered on Tuesday in Chongqing, to discuss the worldwide campaign against separatism.

The participants included 134 chairpersons or deputy chairpersons of the overseas councils from over 60 foreign countries and regions.

At the meeting, speakers agreed that over the past year, all the councils have become more active, cooperative and powerful in their fights against secessionism.

These overseas councils have increased exchanges and kept closer contact with the mainland, Xinhua learned.

The conference was sponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of the Reunification.

Currently, over 170 overseas reunification promotion councils have been established in 80 foreign countries and regions.
