Chinese state councilor meets with Danish PM, stressing further cooperation

Visiting Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili held talks with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Copenhagen on Tuesday, during which both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the active all-round cooperation between the two countries, and expected that to deepen and broaden in the future.

In recent years, Sino-Danish relations had been developing in a healthy way, Chen said, with the two governments exchanging visits more frequently, maintaining fruitful contacts, and having productive negotiations on international affairs.

Bilateral communication and cooperation in fields such as education, science, culture, environmental protection and tourism had been increasingly active and fruitful, especially so in the case of bilateral trade cooperation, Chen stressed.

She expressed China's willingness to further strengthen political dialogue and communication with Denmark, promote exchanges and cooperation in education, science, culture and other areas, and to explore the potential for broader trade cooperation.

China was also willing to learn from Denmark in the areas of advanced technologies in reproducible energy, environmental protection and other fields, Chen said.

Rasmussen expressed his optimism regarding more friendly and cooperative relations with China. The two countries could surely deepen their cooperation in all fields, including education, science, culture and other areas, he said.

The prime minister reiterated Denmark's adherence to the one-China policy, for which Chen expressed her appreciation.

Earlier, the Chinese state councilor had also held talks with Danish Education Minister Bertel Haarder on further boosting the cooperation between the two countries.
