The Chinese Embassy in Israel held a reception on Wednesday evening to mark the 57th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese Ambassador to Israel Chen Yonglong briefed the guests on tremendous changes that have taken place in China since its founding in 1949, particularly China's economic success in recent years.

"China pursues a road of long-term peace and development," Chen said in the coastal city.

He reiterated that China would further promote friendly relations and trade and economic ties with Israel.

Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Eliyahu Yishai and Minister of Science, Culture and Sports Ophir Pines-Paz were among those attending the reception.

The People's Republic of China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949. China and Israel forged diplomatic ties in 1992.
