China marks 100th birth anniversary of venerated Communist Party memberSenior Chinese officials gathered Friday in Beijing to mark the 100th birth anniversary of venerated Communist Party of China (CPC) member Lin Feng. Lin, who joined the Party in 1927, was vice-chairman of the second and third Standing Committees of China's National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature. He died at the age of 71 in 1977. Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee praised Lin's outstanding work in uniting the people to fight invading Japanese troops in the 1930s and 1940s and contributing to the development of the People's Republic of China from 1949. "We commemorate Comrade Lin Feng for his immense loyalty to the country, the people and communist undertakings," he said, urging people to carry on the traditions of older-generation revolutionaries to build a harmonious and well-off society.
