Tokyo shares open lower

Stocks opened lower Tuesday in Tokyo after rising for the last four straight trading days.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 57.83 points, or 0.36 percent, to 16,196. 46.

The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 7.93 points, or 0.49 percent, to 1,617.19. The Second Section also fell.
