Cook Islands launches Anti-Dengue Campaign

Cook Islands has launched a campaign to prevent a mosquito-borne dengue fever outbreak, Cook Islands Television reported Friday.

The Health Ministry is spearheading a cleanup day throughout Rarotonga on Friday while the Cook Islands Television is carrying awareness programs.

It follows reports of ten cases of dengue on Rarotonga and more on Aitutaki to the north.

Cook Islands Television reported that the Health Ministry is meeting island councils and mayors to get community support for its anti-mosquito clean-up campaign.

Health Secretary Doctor Roro Daniel was seen on the Cook Islands Television to appeal for public support.
