The chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), Edmund Ho Hau Wah, left Macao Sunday evening to start a five-day official visit to Vietnam.

Ho is paying his visit at the invitation of the deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs of Vietnam, Pham Gia Khiem.

During his stay in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, Ho is scheduled to meet with Pham and pay courtesy calls to high-ranking officials, according to a press release from the MSAR Government Information Bureau.

The ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Hanoi will also host a banquet for Ho.

Ho and his delegation of government officials are also expected to visit several other cities in Vietnam, including Halong Bay, Danang City, Hoi An Ancient Town and Ho Chi Minh City.

He is also scheduled to meet with the chairman of the Danang People's Committee and the chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People 's Committee.

The Macao Government Tourist Office and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute have also organized about 80 Macao entrepreneurs to join the visit, with the aim of enhancing bilateral business links between Vietnam and Macao.
