U.S. military announces another death of soldier in Iraq on Saturday

Another U.S. soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on Saturday, the second death of a U.S. soldier in a single day, the U.S. military announced on Sunday.

The military said in a statement that the Task Force Lightning Soldier assigned to 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, based out of Fort Lewis, Washington, was killed by an improvised explosive device detonation.

However, the statement did not specify where the soldier was killed.

Earlier in the day, one U.S. soldier was announced by the military in a separate statement as killed on Saturday by small arms fire when insurgents attacked his patrol in northwestern Baghdad.

About 2,730 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U. S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count.
