Vietnam is expected to export woodwork worth 1.3 billion U.S. dollars to the United States in 2006, up from 700 million dollars in 2005, said a local industry association on Tuesday.
The United States is expected to become the biggest market of the Vietnamese woodwork this year, said the Vietnam Wood and Forest Products Processing Association.
Woodwork producers in Vietnam are seeking more material suppliers, increasing the products' quality, and intensifying trade promotion, said the association.
Vietnam, which reaped woodwork export turnover of nearly 1.6 billion dollars in 2005, shipped abroad the products worth nearly 1.4 billion U.S. dollars to more than 120 countries and regions in the first nine months of 2006, a year-on-year increase of 23.8 percent.
