An on-line dialogue between Chinese and Japanese university students was held on Monday to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China Radio International (CRI).
Thirteen students, selected from hundreds of applicants, participated in the dialogue. They were from nine prestigious universities from China and Japan, including Beijing University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Waseda University and the University of Japan.
During the on-line dialogue, the Chinese and Japanese students talked about their campus life, foreign language studies, young people's social responsibilities, current China-Japan relations and their views and understanding of Chinese or Japanese culture.
A junior with the Law School of the University of Japan said he rarely saw Chinese TV series or films in Japan and his limited knowledge about China came from his elder brother who once traveled along the old Silk Road.
He said he hoped Japan and China could send more students to each other and offer more opportunities for the youth to get to know each other.
Cheng Weiyan, a junior with the Japanese Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University, said young people will be the driving force of modern society and on-line talks provided the Chinese and Japanese university students a direct and vivid platform to communicate with each other.
The on-line dialogue is also part of the activities held to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Japanese service of CRI.
