Chinese world champs into China Open badminton semis

China's world champions Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng outlasted teammates Zhang Wei and Sun Junjie 2-1 (21-17, 9-21, 21-15) on Friday to enter the China Open badminton men's doubles semifinals.

Cai and Fu played more aggressively and kept the lead in the first set. Zhang/Sun tried hard to narrow the gap but failed to find any solution.

In the second set, Cai and Fu made quite a few unforced errors as Zhang Wei and Sun took one back with 21-9.

The two pairs played very hard in the third set, but Cai/Fu were speedier. After 7-7, the match began to be one-sided as Cai/Fu upped their pace and made it 21-15.

In other men's doubles games, Xia Xuanze/Xu Chen from China lost to Kioo Markis/Setiawan Hendra from Malaysia 2-0 (21-18, 21-13). Hadiyanto Luluk/Yulianto Alvent from Indonesia ousted Kawaguchi Keishi/Kawamae Naoki from Japan 2-1 (18-21, 21-14, 21-13). Eriksen Jens/Lundgaard Hansen Martin from Denmark outlasted Hoon Thien How/Tan Boon Heong from Malaysia 2-0 (21-18, 21-10).

In the women's doubles, Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen from China beat their compatriots Wang Xiaoli/Ma Jin 2-0 (21-13, 21-14). Chien Yu Chin/Cheng Wen Hsing from Chinese Taipei outclassed Wong Pei Tty/Chin Eei Hui from Malaysia 2-1 (17-21, 21-7, 21-15).

Zhang Dan/Zhao Tingting from China thrashed Yamada Seiko/Matsuo Shizuka from Japan 2-0 (21-17, 21-13). Chinese Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen drubbed Ogura Kumiko/Shiota Reiko from Japan 2-0 (21-10, 21-14).
