Nigeria to train 30,000 civil servants on e-Government
font size

Nigeria is to train 30,000 civil servants to implement the e-Government initiatives, a senior official said on Tuesday.

Olu Agunloye, vice chairman of National e-Government Strategies Executive, was quoted as saying the training would kick-off the e- Government project in ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Workers would be properly equipped to function in the new dispensation through the training, he said, adding that the e- Government initiative would fast track the federal government reforms agenda in all MDAs.

The training was organized on the directives of Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo that all civil servants must be computer literate and e-Compliant, according to Agunloye.

He said the training was divided into three categories to address revenue collection and management, law enforcement and public order as well as basic guides for e-Government compliance.

Agunloye said e-Payment would bring about transparency and accountability in governance as well as proper documentation of government revenue profile.

The training, scheduled to commence on October 30, will be held in Abuja, Minna, Jos, Kaduna, Lagos, Gombe, Abakaliki, Akure and Calabar.
