Zambia has approved mining license for the Canadian company Teal Exploration and Mining Incorporated, allowing it to set up a new copper mine in Kalulushi in Copperbelt Province of the copper-producing country, Zambia Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
The newly-acquired mining license, covering an area of 330 square kilometers, includes Mwambashi and incorporates three other exploration targets held by Teal.
The exploration targets are known as the Samba, Pitanda and Mwambashi "A" copper prospects, which were explored in the past. Teal is drilling the three areas further to expand the resources.
The areas all form a part of Teal's Copperbelt Joint Venture, in which it has 70 percent shares and Korea Zinc Company holds 30 percent.
The technical section of the feasibility study for the 12,000 tons per annum Mwambashi copper project has been completed and its resource is estimated at 11 million tons at a grade of 2.03 percent copper in the measured, indicated and inferred categories.
