Scientists monitor Chinese sturgeon
Scientists places recorders and monitors on the back of the Chinese sturgeon. It weights approximately 150 kilograms. Fish from the Miaozui water area (in Hubei province in central China) of Xiling Gorge on the Yangtze River are being tracked. The devices can monitor the movement of the sturgeon and record water temperatures, water depths and more. The information will be used to help breed and protect the Chinese sturgeon after construction of the Three Gorges Dam is completed.
