font size

Chen Chaoxian, head of Changning District Government in downtown Shanghai, is under investigation for alleged "serious irregularities" of official disciplinary codes, according to the Shanghai Municipal Government.

A source with the municipal government said the disciplinary inspection department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has launched the investigation, but he refused to give any further details.

Chen, who is also deputy secretary of the Changning District Committee of the CPC, was formerly a member of the CPC Huangpu District Committee in Shanghai and deputy government leader of the same district.

He became leader of Changning District Government at a by-election of the second session of the 13th Changning District People's Congress in July 2003.
