font size

Sudanese President Omer Hassan Ahmed El-Bashir arrived Monday at Sanya, a scenic city in southern China's Hainan Province, continuing his visit in the country.

El-Bashir arrived in China last Wednesday for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation held on Nov. 4- 5. A total of 48 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China attended the summit, a landmark event in China-Africa relations.

China hopes the Sudanese government can strengthen dialogue with each concerned party in the Darfur conflict and try to maintain stability in the region, Chinese President Hu Jintao made the remark when meeting Sudanese President last Thursday.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with El-Bashir last Friday, saying the two countries are enjoying a stable relationship.

China and Sudan forged diplomatic relations on Feb. 4, 1959. Bilateral trade topped 3.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2005.
