Seychellois President James Alix Michel said here Tuesday evening he expected further exchanges and cooperation between Seychelles and China's southernmost Hainan Province.
Michel made the remarks in a meeting with Wei Liucheng, governor of Hainan Province.
Wei expressed the hope that his province would enhance cooperation with Seychelles in the fields of fishery, tourism and oil production in the future.
Michel said Seychelles and Hainan "have a lot in common," such as natural and economic resources.
The main industries in Seychelles are tourism and fishery -- same as Hainan, Michel said, adding that the people in Seychellois and Hainan also share similar living habits.
Michel said he expected closer exchanges and cooperation with Hainan.
Wei believed the future for the cooperation between Hainan and Seychelles will be bright.
The president visited Hainan Provincial Fisheries Research Institute and the permanent site of Boao Forum for Asia Tuesday morning.
President Michel on Monday arrived in Haikou, capital city of Hainan, to start a 3-day visit to Hainan.
Michel kicked off his state visit to China on Nov. 1 and attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held from Nov. 4 to 5.
