Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Wednesday said his recent tour to China, Russia and Kazakhstan was aimed at serving Egyptian interests and facilitating investments.
Economy leads politics and Egypt was seeking to explore all markets, Mubarak said in statements to editors-in-chief of the Egyptian national newspapers and the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on his way back home Wednesday from his tour, adding that he focused on the economic issues during his talks with the three nations' leaders and officials.
Meanwhile, Mubarak said it is likely to set up Chinese investments in the oil and natural gas spheres in Egypt, adding that China's economy was strong.
Mubarak noted China's gigantic exports to the United States, adding that the American factories would face a dilemma, unemployment rates would increase and the U.S. economy could collapse without China's support.
Mubarak left for Russia, the first leg of his tour, on Nov. 1 and returned to Cairo on Wednesday from Kazakhstan.
In China, the second leg of his trip, Mubarak attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit which is seen as an important conference to promote a new Sino-African strategic partnership and strengthen the cooperation between China and Africa. Mubarak also made a state visit to China on Monday and Tuesday.
The two-day FOCAC summit, attended by leaders of China and 48 African countries, concluded in Beijing on Sunday afternoon, which has seen substantial fruits and refreshed the half-century-old bilateral ties.
