The death toll rose to 33 people killed and 56 others wounded in the suicide bomb attack at a police commando recruitment center in western Baghdad on Sunday morning, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
"A suicide bomber wearing an explosive-belt blew himself up among a crowd of people who came up to join the Iraqi police commandos in a recruitment center near the Nusour Square in Qadsiyah neighborhood," the source said on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, media reports said that at least 23 people were killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, there was another powerful explosion, said the source, but he could not confirm whether it was caused by another suicide bomber or by a mortar round attack.
