font size

According to a report from China News Agency, 31 pandas have been bred in captivity around the world this year, with 28 of those surviving. This is the highest number of pandas ever bred in captivity.

The 2006 Panda Protection Meeting and the 17th Annual Meeting of the Panda Breeding Technology Committee are currently being held in Thailand. It was revealed on November 14 that a 51 kilogram baby panda has been born in Atlanta city in the United States. This is the highlight of panda breeding this year.

According to the introduction given by the organizing committee, since the establishment of a technology committee on panda breeding in 1989, Chengdu has held 16 consecutive annual committee meetings. The meeting in Thailand is the first abroad. This signifies that the world is paying increasing attention to the importance of panda protection.
